BOZEMAN, MT, April 23, 2007 – Cherry Tree Design recently donated lighting products to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for the Westbrook Family’s new home in Lawton, Oklahoma. The donation included 11 lighting fixtures and lamps from Cherry Tree Design’s Craftsman, Meridian, Bungalow and Fuji collections.

After becoming paralyzed while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Gene Westbrook was medically discharged from the Army and received a purple heart for his service. A year after Gene was paralyzed, his family suffered another tragedy. A wheel from the van they were driving came loose, causing Gene to lose control and veer into a ravine. As a result of the accident, their son James, was paralyzed from the waist down. The family was left with over a million dollars in medical bills, and both father and son were now confined to wheelchairs in a house that wasn’t wheelchair accessible.

With the Westbrook family on vacation, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition designers and builders got to work constructing a newly built handicapped-accessible home for the family. The lighting donated by Cherry Tree Design was used in a sleek new upscale woodshop created especially for Gene and his son, James.
